Manuport

(in development, supported by Australia Council, New Media Music)

The installation is built around the archaeological concept of the manuport.

A series of irregular white objects of various shapes and sizes lie scattered on the floor of an open accessible space.

A quiet, slowly evolving ambient sound is heard, the combined sounds of the objects themselves.

The audience/public walk amongst and pick up the objects, re-locating them according to their own design.

As the objects are moved, the sound changes. The relocating components reconfigure the multiple sound sources.
