shriek

Something unforeseen. A series of old boat are found, beyond the end of a life. Dragged, screaming over the ice at minus 20 degrees celsius along the Tahkolahti. The light flickers. The snow continues to fall. The boats will burn.

From Wednesday 24 February until Saturday 27 February 2016 we presented , in collaboration with Pekka Mäkinen, our new work Shriek on the Tahkolahti, Finland, as part of Winter ANTI Festival. Shriek is an interactive sound installation, building up on the ice of Tahkolahti lake during the festival week and reaching its climax on Saturday 27th February. Shriek begins a creative research into the concept of existential risk which we are continuing in Australia, United Kingdom, Finland, and Norway through 2016 to 2018.

ANTI Festival has engaged boat owners from the Tahko area, asking them to give away their old boats and tell their stories for Shriek.
