Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey have collaborated for 15 years in creating music for dance, theatre and film. In This Map is Not to Scale, they amplify, extend and over-emphasise musical ephemera to write their own sonic essay. Pieces developed during a recent residency at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research frame a series of expanded moments that focus on the ‘in-betweens, underneaths and rarely mentioneds’ of their practice.
These award-winning Australian artists have collaborated with hundreds of Melbourne artists across disciplines and are the dynamic duo behind the Festival’s 2007 happening of epic proportions: John Cage’s Musicircus.
